The Latin American Association of Operations Research Societies (ALIO) is pleased to announce the Summer School in Operations Research for Young Scholars (ELAVIO).

ELAVIO is a school promoted by ALIO (Latin-American Association of Operations Research) and supported by IFORS (International Federation of Operational Research Societies), mainly aimed at young researchers and graduate students (PhD and Master students) from Latin and Ibero-American countries, with outstanding performance and interest in the areas of Operations Research, Systems Engineering and Applied Mathematics. Advanced undergraduate students from all over the world can also be accepted.

ELAVIO aims to stimulate the beginning of collaborations and promotes the participation of young researchers and graduate students presenting them updated research topics through short curses and plenary conferences. Besides, participants have the opportunity to present and discuss their works. Previous editions of the school achieved an excellent fellowship environment that strengthen contacts between members of research groups from different countries.

ELAVIO 2016 will take place in the city of Cali, Colombia, between 9 and 13 May 2016. Cali is known as the "world capital of salsa" and is the third largest city in Colombia with about 2.5 million inhabitants. Cali has a cultural, culinary and tourist offer that will significantly enrich the experience for participants. Host universities will be the Universidad del Valle (Department of Industrial Engineering) and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering), two of the main centers of scientific production in the region and the country. The event is also co-organized by the Universidad de Medellín (Department of Basics Sciences) and the Universidad de Antioquia (Department of Industrial Engineering).
